  • Anoop Kumar was an Indian actor who predominantly worked in Bollywood. He was one of the Ganguly Brothers trio who earned a name in acting in the 20th century.
  • Anoop’s elder brother, Ashok Kumar, was an actor and singer, and his younger brother, Kishore Kumar, was a legendary playback singer of the 20th century.
  • In his 20s, Anoop was learning classical music. It is said that he is the only one among three brothers who earned a professional education in classical music. His other two brothers, Ashok and Kishore, learnt music on their own without any professional course.
  • He was the one who taught his younger brother, Kishore Kumar, the skill of yodelling which ultimately made Kishore Kumar the most sought-after singer of the 20th century. [1]The Times of India
  • Despite learning music, he lent his voice to only a few songs but earned a name in Bollywood films. He was famous for his comic roles.
  • His debut film, ‘Khiladi,’ was released in 1950 in which he played a side role. His brother, Ashok Kumar, played the lead role in this film.

  • In 1958, he made his debut in Bengali films through ‘Lukochuri’ in which Kishore Kumar played the lead role and Anoop played a side role.
  • Anoop Kumar became popular after he appeared in the 1958 Bollywood film Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi alongside his brothers, Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar.
