During the shoot of the Hindi TV show Kaala Teeka, on 1 July 2016, Bhupinder asked for a makeup item from the production team which was not available as the shops were closed. He got angry and started abusing and fighting with the production team and also slapped Rajendra Upadhyay, the 55-year-old production head, following which he was banned from shooting for 3 months.

Cine And TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) revoked his ban after he apologized to Upadhyay. Bhupinder later said that things which were reported did not happen, and he did not slap anyone during the incident.
