Mamukkoya (1946-2023) was an Indian actor, who mainly worked in Malayalam films. He appeared in more than 450 Malayalam films, mainly in comic roles. He was the first person to receive State Award for Best Comedian in Malayalam cinema. On 24 April 2023, he suffered a heart attack. On 26 April 2023, due to a brain haemorrhage, he passed away.

Mamukkoya (also spelt as Mamukoya) aka Mamukka was born on Friday, 5 July 1946 (age 76 years; at the time of death) in Calicut, Malabar District, Madras Presidency, British India (now Chennai, India). He did his schooling at MM High School, Calicut.

He started his career as a theatre artist.

In 1979, he made his debut with the Malayalam film ‘Anyarude Bhoomi.’ He gained immense popularity with comic roles and supporting roles in various Malayalam films such as ‘Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam’ (1986), ‘Pattanapravesham’ (1988), ‘Mullavalliyum Thenmavum’ (2003), ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ (2021), and ‘Gafoor Ka Dosth’ (2023).
Tamil
In 1990, he made his Tamil film debut with ‘Arangetra Velai.’ He appeared in a few other Tamil films like ‘Kasu’ (2006), ‘Marakkyar: Arabikkadalin Singam’ (2021), and ‘Cobra’ (2022).

In 1997, he appeared in the French film ‘Flammen im Paradies’ in which he played the role of Joseph.

Mamukkoya also acted in a few Malayalam TV serials like ‘Manasi’ (Doordarshan), ‘Cinemala’ (1993; Asianet), ‘Santhanagopalam’ (2005; Asianet), and ‘Akkare Ikkare’ (2009; Asianet).

Death
On 26 April 2023, he died of a brain haemorrhage. Earlier, on 24 April 2023, while he was at Malappuram, Kerala, to inaugurate a soccer tournament, he suffered a heart attack. After which he was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital. After two days, he had a brain haemorrhage.
