- On 31 August 2023, she passed away due to a kidney ailment, which was reportedly a result of complications arising from buttock lifting surgery, which she did in 2011. In 2014, her doctors shared that she had kidney stones, which were alleged to have been caused by the use of methacrylate on her buttocks by her cosmetic surgeon. In 2023, doctors advised her to undergo a kidney transplant. Gradually, Luna’s health started deteriorating, after which she was immediately hospitalised. During this time, she filed a police complaint against her surgeon, Aníbal Lotocki, accusing him of causing repeated serious injuries in her surgeries. Lotocki was then sentenced to four years in prison and received a five-year medical practice disqualification, although he denied the allegations and appealed the court’s decision. In April 2023, Luna shared a video on her Instagram account, sharing that she was dependent on a life-sustaining machine while she was hospitalised in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On 19 August 2023, hospital officials reported that she had contracted a bacterial infection after she was removed from life-support machines. However, she could not survive and died on 31 August 2023.
