apple: Apple is offering free repair program for this Apple Watch

Apple has announced a service repair program for one of its Watch models. Some Watch Series 6 models’ display is reportedly going permanently blank. Apple will repair those certain Watch Series 6 models for free. On its support website, Apple said that it “has determined that the screen on a very small percentage of 40mm Apple Watch Series 6 devices may go blank permanently.”
The affected devices, according to Apple, were manufactured between April 2021 to September 2021. How to check if your Watch Series 6 is eligible?
As mentioned above, the service repair program is only for 40mm Series 6 Watch. No other Apple Watch models are part of this program. If you have purchased the Watch Series 6 before April 2021, then chances are you will not be covered under the program. If you have a 40mm Watch Series 6, you’re facing this issue then you have to on Apple’s website. There you will have to use the serial number checker to see if your device is eligible for this program. If so, Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider will provide service, free of charge.
This worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of your Apple Watch. The program covers eligible Apple Watch Series 6 for two years after the first retail sale of the unit. Apple also noted that it may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase. However, we did check and Watch Series 6 users in India are covered under the program.
Apple hasn’t mentioned till how long the free service repair program for Watch Series 6 will run. In the past when Apple has run such free service repair programs then they do last for a while.
