Veteran film producer Narayan Das Narang, who has bankrolled several popular Tollywood films, passed away at the age of 76 on Tuesday. The producer was suffering from various age-related issues and succumbed to his illnesses at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
Narayan Das Narang began his career as a movie financer in the 1980s, and has financed over 650 films spanning four decades. He was also the chairman of a popular multiplex group in Hyderabad, and previously served as the president of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. Some of his recent films include Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Love Story and Naga Shaurya’s Lakshya. He had several other films in the pipeline, including Nagarjuna and Kajal Aggawral’s The Ghost, apart from untitled ventures with Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan.
His funeral will take place at 4 pm at the Mahaprasthanam, where several Tollywood personalities are expected to pay their last respects and offer their condolences to his family. Narayan Das Narang is survived by his son Sunil Narang, who is also a leading film producer and exhibitor.
